Entertainment Weekly News

A newsroom front page with live updates, market tickers and eight sections that still works on a phone.

Entertainment Weekly News interface

About this build

A news front page has to carry a lot at once: eight sections, a live updates rail, market and sports tickers, a trending carousel. I built it on a three-column grid that collapses into a fixed reading order on mobile, so a phone gets the lead story, then the headlines, then the live rail. It is not a shrunken desktop. The live blocks refresh on their own, which stops a slow ticker holding up the articles, and every card reserves its space before the image arrives so the page never jumps while it loads.

What it does

  • Three-column front page that reflows to a single reading order on mobile
  • Live updates rail refreshing independently of the page shell
  • Market and sports tickers
  • Section routing across eight categories
  • Trending carousel and full-text search
